Osteopathy is a well recognised system of healthcare which places the structural integrity of the body at it's core.

Osteopaths use comprehensive diagnostic testing and manual therapy techniques to address a wide range of conditions. Osteopaths are best known for their effective treatment of aches, pains and strains of the back, neck and other musculo-skeletal regions.

In a typical treatment programme, your osteopath will carry out some or all of the following:

  • A thorough case history, identifying all of the factors, both recent and longer term, that may have contributed the development of your condition. This will include medical history, emotional factors, exercse, work etc.
  • An orthopaedic or osteopathic assessment allowing your osteopath to reach a diagnosis on the cause of your pain
  • Treatment involving massage, manipulation and mobilisation. Treatment techniques are always chosen and adapted to suit individual patients such that you are always comfortable.
  • Postural evaluation, advice and exercises
  • Lifestyle, work and sports evaluation and advice
  • Maintenance programme that enables you to mange your condition and minimise painful recurrences.
All osteopaths working within West Country Integrated Health are registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).
